Sisu may be a good fit if your child…
- has difficulty sounding out words and reading smoothly
- doesn’t enjoy reading because it’s hard
- can participate online with an adult nearby when needed
- can commit to consistent sessions
One-on-one online reading tutoring, K–12
Sisu Reading exists to help students who guess at words, avoid reading, or are not making appropriate grade-level progress.
What families notice
Many struggling readers are bright, curious, and working very hard. Difficulty with reading is not a measure of effort or intelligence.
Your child may need a different kind of instruction. Structured literacy, grounded in the science of reading, teaches sounds, spelling patterns, and reading strategies explicitly, in a planned sequence. Students are shown what to do and given time to practice it.
Meet the teacher
Sisu Reading is a small tutoring practice, not a large platform. Hanna is the person who assesses, plans for, and teaches your child.
I’m a certified cognitive coach, Wired for Resilience coach, and elementary teacher (M.Ed.), as well as a mom to three readers. I have 20+ years of experience with many kinds of students, including English language learners, students with special needs, gifted students, foster and adoptive families, and homeschoolers.
One-on-one tutoring can make such a difference! If you’re wondering whether your child might need extra support (or even a challenge), I’m happy to set up a free consultation call to learn about your situation.
